Owambe
It's not a word, you know? It's a sentence.
For my non-speaking Yoruba folks, this popular party term literally means ‘It is there’.
Well, your talent is there. It might not be a skill yet but it’s undeniable.
It’s as existential as the air you filter through your nostrils, okay?
And the sweet thing is I am there too. Check what I mean.
Click on that link, I made a video just for you.
Back to you now,
Try these:
Stand/sit in front of a mirror.
Say your name.
Then list the first five things that popped in your head at the mention of your name.
Then do something with either or all of the five things that you have. Do anything!
Don’t think too much into it. This your talent, Owambe.
Overthinking is what is choking it just like how the need to buy and wear the asoebi prevents some folks from attending an owambe and enjoying some party jollof.
